Craft Journal: NEW old shelves

My sister in law and mother in law gave me these old shelves that they weren't using anymore. They were a very light wood color that was nice but not quite me. I love the worn rustic look and these didn't have it. I went and bought some dark interior paint, some vintage white interior paint, and some CRACKLE solution. Lowe's will have an instruction pamphlet. Roller paint the dark, dry, sponge brush the crackle solution, dry, and roller paint the white. It immediately starts to crack the paint. When it was dry I sanded the corners for a more weathered look. So easy and they look incredible! Cost of paint and crackle $30, paint supplies $10. New old shelves just for $40. Craft Journal: Pillows

Having a baby that is busy has played quite a number on my once cute living room pillows. I had a bunch of extra cloth and decided to cover them with it. I sewed the cloth strips in whatever pattern would give me the most cloth to work with. I washed the old pillows and stuffed them inside of my new pillow covers and sewed (I still can't do a good zipper) up the opened side. Now I have some fun and bright new pillows (That also match my dining room table,) I think they turned out so cute and they totally go with this whole re-vamped thing I have going for my new house. Cost $0(extra cloth)...Priceless! I love using old clothes of mine that I don't wear anymore for scrap cloth also. Comment you questions. ENJOY!

Craft Journal: Calendar Pics. Re-vamped

I wanted new decor for my kitchen and I already had the picture of the big red barn hanging up(hand me down from sister in law, love it) and an adorable 2009 cow calendar that Aaron gave me for an anniversary gift. I figured okay you have the farm stuff already going, and you love it, so go with it. I didn't want to throw the calendar away because it was so cute but it is clearly a new year and I can't use it anymore, so I decided to cut out the pictures that I liked the most and frame them to go with my red barn pic. I bought the $2 dollar frames at Wal-mart, measured my cow pics, put them in the frames, and now I have a cute little collection of perfectly coordinated pictures for my kitchen that I can top off with a red rustic star (already own it) and some cute little homemade curtains(soon to come) and bod-a-bing I have an adorable country kitchen. Craft Journal: Card Table and Chairs

For my wedding one of the best gifts we were given was a set of chairs and matching card table. Perfect gift for any broke newly married couple. The chairs we a little drab for me after a while and with our new move I wanted to re-vamp my "dining room table set" he he, and make it adorable and a little more "me". I went to the cloth store and picked out 2 different patterns that I loved that coordinated well together. The pads on the top of the chair unscrewed and the pads on the bottom of the chair I was able to hammer out. I kept the original gray color on two of the chairs and used a textured dark brown spray paint on the other two. I cut the yard of cloth in half and stretched it until there were no wrinkles in the fabric and stapled it with a staple gun (my new best friend) to the back of the pieces of the chair that I took off. I did not remove the original padding or cloth because the new cloth covered it well and the old stuff created more padding. I cut the excess cloth and screwed the top of the chair back in and used a spray adhesive (works great) for the seat of the chair.I did nothing to the table except add a table cloth that I made out of my old duvet (Yes I cleaned it first). I measured the table and decided how much overhang I wanted off the sides and added that extra little bit to the measurements I already had. I cut, ironed, covered the table and with some extra strips, I tied the corners of the table in a bow, which also gathered the duvet cloth really cute. I spent $16 dollars on the cloth, $25 on the spray paint and adhesive, and $15 on the staple gun. Quick and easy fix and they look so cute. Comment your questions. ENJOY!

Craft Journal: New Letter Blocks

I love D.I. I find the greatest deals there. If you don't mind a little using a little elbow grease, you can re-make anything. One of my favorite buys from D.I. is picture frames. Most of the picture frames in my home are from D.I., I just repaint and turn them into something that I love. They look like you bought them all rustic and brand new.P.S. they usually cost me 50cents to a dollar.

These were all frames that I was not using. I painted them a vintage white. The letters are prefab letters that I got at Micheal's for maybe a buck fifty a pop. I painted them a wheat yellow and then watered down some brown paint and lightly blotted it with a rag. I sanded the corners and called it good. Sand paper is my best friend. Comment your questions. Why I am in love...

My heart feels like it is about to jump out of my chest right now and I know that it is because when I think of my husband, even after almost 5 years together, he still gives me butterflies. I ache to see him even when he is just at work for a few hours. He is my best friend. I have never laughed so hard and for so long than I do with him. We can be at home doing nothing together and it is means everything. He compliments me perfectly. Our personalities, my anger, his calm, my craziness, his calm, my fly by the seat of my pants and screw the consequences, his calm, my ahhhhhhh, his calm. He is everything the Lord intended me to have to become the best version of myself. He swears that I am just as much for him as he is for me but I still swear the Lord made him specifically for me because no one else could handle my loud, erratic ways. There is no special occasion, or any true reason that I am writing this except to let the world know how much I love my best friend and how grateful I am for the completeness that he has brought into my life. Everything I love the most has everything to do with him and I would be lost without him.

My sleeping beauties...

I was studying late the other night and went to bed about 2 hours later than my loves...This is what I found when I walked into the room, Oak totally sprawled out over daddy. I just about wet my pants when I saw it(ya know how stuff that isn't really that funny is super funny at 1 in the morning).
